A game prototype, not a diagnosis.

Tasks and questions are shortened adaptations. Your rank is a demo game score, not an IQ, personality or official PISA result. Test responses stay in this tab; refresh clears them.

What is connected?

This prototype runs its own browser tasks and adapted questions. It does not call a PsyToolkit API, embed an official testing session, or access the full PISA item bank.

Executive-function task references

Short, original implementations based on the public PsyToolkit task descriptions, acknowledged to Professor Gijsbert Stoet / PsyToolkit:

Trial counts, response keys, stimuli and presentation have been changed. The switching demo uses only a brief mixed-rule block, not the full reference protocol. PsyToolkit’s free-use conditions concern non-commercial education/research; verify its terms and any third-party rights before formal or commercial use. PsyToolkit terms ↗

Financial question references

Source: OECD, PISA 2018 Financial Literacy: Released Items ↗. We use six original, shortened adaptations of the Bank Statement, Music System, Phone Plans, Ring-Tones and Charitable Giving items. Wording, amounts and some response formats are changed. Exact item codes are listed in the end-of-test debrief.

This is an adaptation of an original work by the OECD. The opinions expressed and arguments employed in this adaptation should not be reported as representing the official views of the OECD or of its Member countries.

No OECD endorsement is implied. OECD terms ↗

Transparent gameplay scoring

Control and memory: 100 × max(0, hit rate − false-alarm rate). Switching: 100 × max(0, 2 × accuracy − 1). These are provisional game indices; they are not standardized EF scores. Practice and the first two memory letters are excluded. A timed task with no responses must be repeated.

Each financial category has two items and scores 0, 50 or 100. The overall index is the equal-weight mean of six completed categories (50% EF tasks, 50% financial questions). Rank thresholds: Rookie 0–19; Cadet 20–39; Agent 40–59; Elite 60–74; Ace 75–89; Legend 90–100. These cutoffs are design choices, not age norms. Speed does not affect the rank.

Before using this for research

This is a flow prototype, not a validated measurement instrument. It cannot diagnose EF, establish personality, predict scam victimisation, or demonstrate that training transfers to financial decisions. Repeating the test can create practice effects. Reading ability, input device and familiarity affect performance. PISA targets around age 15; these adaptations need age-appropriate piloting before use with younger children.

For a study with minors, arrange appropriate ethics review, parent/guardian permission and participant assent before collecting data; validate the tasks, sampling and scoring separately. This version has no study consent or research database. Responses are held in memory in this tab, with no app analytics or response-upload feature. A manual JSON download may contain your chosen code name and trial-level data; share it deliberately.
